This is a story of a young Mandaya Boy. This story happened after World War I ended. The boy was hired by the priest to help him in the church. Inside the church was a crucifix — a huge crucifix.

One day, while the child was cleaning the church, he accidentally bumped into the crucifix. He talked to the man on the cross: “Who crucified you? What was your crime that they did this to you? You do not have clothes on. Don’t worry, I have an extra pair of pants and I will let you borrow it. Tonight, I will bring something to eat for both of us.”
The child said: “I will ask you again. Why did they punish you this way?”

The image answered, “My son, I was tortured and crucified to savehumanity.”

The boy was puzzled and said nothing. The boy went to his room that night, got his pants, and went to the kitchen to get some food. He delivered these to the image. The crucified Lord went down from the cross and wore the child’s pants and ate with him.

This went on almost every night. One day the priest noticed the unusual activities of the boy. He followed the boy and witnessed everything. The priest told the nuns about what he saw.

The next day the priest and the nuns hid the utensils that the boy had been using. They replaced the utensils with new ones because they were thinking that the Lord did not deserve old utensils. They also cooked delicious food for the Lord.

When the boy went to the kitchen, his plate was nowhere to be found so he used the new plate and filled it with the food prepared in the kitchen. The boy brought this to the image and called the Lord. He got no response, so he called again. The image did not move, so the boy cried. But the image remained fixed and did not move again.
