Nais kong iguhit ang iyong mukha

Poetry by | July 26, 2015

Bawat pekas at nunal

The Moon Peeps

Poetry by | July 26, 2015

Tonight
I’m closing
the window on
my west
because the moon,
in its silver face,
shines so bright
and brings back
bittersweet memory
of a February night
at the deserted boulevard
where I met your
eyes in dark,
tasted your mouth
and loved your soul.

Leave

Poetry by | July 26, 2015

If you’re going to leave,
just leave.
Don’t make a sound.
I don’t want to hear the perfectly polished
hardwood floor creek
in response to your every step
away from me.
It reminds me of the day we bought this apartment,
the glimmer in your eyes,
how you said our bookshelves would fit perfectly
against the tired red brick wall.
Don’t say a word.
Too much had already been said.
With every echoing hymn of your rustic voice,
I feel it pull me closer towards you
and I’m back once again to base one.
Don’t kiss me goodbye.
The thought of it being our last
makes me realize how I cannot touch
anyone else’s lips.
If you’re going to leave,
don’t leave anything behind.
Take it all.
Take the notes, the postcards, the shreds of my heart,
and the promise of eternal summers
because when all of this is over,
all I’ll ever get from this tug of war
is never-ending winter in my heart.
And when you finally leave,
just leave.
Don’t tell me you’re sorry.
I already know you are.
We both are.

Voyage

Poetry by | July 26, 2015

Through life’s ferocious waters,
Against the acrid tides of existence,
We sailed
We endured
We conquered
Versus the mermaids’ lugubrious whimper
And now that we’ve finally kissed the shore,
I cannot help but wonder:
Would the voyage have been smoother,
if you and I
were on the same boat?

Kung Nagkataon

Poetry by | July 26, 2015

Hindi ko inasahan, hindi pinaghandaan
Mga sumunod na oras na nagdaan
Tila ba wala akong makita sa’king harapan
Maliban sa karera ng rumaragasang ulan
Sa konting panahon na naiwan,
hanggang sa araw ng iyong paglisan
Sana ay lagi mong pakatatandaan,
walang rason para ika’y makalimutan
Kahit pa labag man ito sa aking kalooban
Pagtutugma ng mga salita’y aking sinubukan
Sapagkat alam kong ito lamang ang paraan
Upang mas lalo mong maiintindihan
Hindi na kailangan pang mangatwiran
Na sa iyong pag-alis ay kalungkutan
Kung nagkataon na tayo’y pinagbigyan
Pangako kong ika’y aking iingatan
At kung nagkataon na iyong mamalayan
Ang paglipas ng mga taon ay mabilisan
Kung nasa hinaharap ang ating kapalaran
Kung nagkataon, pwede na ba nating ipaglaban?

Mermaid Dreams

Poetry by | May 24, 2015

Old golden days of a little mermaid
With a bright red tail and pale skin
Swimming the shallow waters of blue
And endless building of gray sand castles

Quite a distance from the shore
Guards the red-tailed mermaid
Is a tranquil man in his sixties
Clothed in his faded orange shirt

Finally the sun tired of shining
Kisses goodbye the vast turquoise sea
The little mermaid leaves her tail
And seeks solace in the senescent eyes

Now where the little mermaid swam
Are fish cages floating side by side
And where the aged man stood guard
Is an empty longing space
