/ɪn ˈmiːdɪˌæs ˈreɪs/

suspended between

parallel worlds of

ought-to-be’s

and

what is,

she shifts precariously

between contrasting

narratives.

Tired

of the cacophony of noise,

(not hers)

she flings herself out of the chaos

(not hers)

runs to where her truth is,

and

for the first time

allows herself to

laugh

a symphony of

bitter

confused

angry cackles –

anectodal of a beginning

that is singularly hers.
