Three Poems

Poetry by | September 2, 2007

Shiokumi Doll

Waves in kimono,
two pails, his jacket, and hat
drowning in desire.
She wears his clothes and becomes –
man enough, to fetch water.

Hanagatami Tanka

In this Noh play, she
holds a basket of flowers,
his chrysanthemums
wilting in the heat of her
pursuit — her mask is frozen.

Full Moon Tanka

Moonrise over church
dama de noche wafting,
lone cicada sings
the road, illuminated –
My son sleeping in my arms.
