on your side

Poetry by | February 16, 2026

I love you enough
to close my eyes while you drive

I may be the first one to remind you to fix yours on the road.

You loved me so
to tell me I can sleep soundly as we head towards
wherever, us.

Not on who’s beside you

In the breath of some prayers and latter rides
I wasn’t going for an exhale.

in deep slumber—

You were never outside my dreams.
Just out of reach as you hand me over
to an orbit without you.

an exile now asking the brakes where to go.
